what are YOU putting off?

Every year I tell myself I’m going to be in shape for ski season… before it begins.

Well it began this weekend.

What had I done to prepare my body for a sport I adore?

Zilch, zip, nada, nothing.

There was always something else more pressing. More urgent. More something.

Of course, I was able to ski without preparation, yet not as well as I did the last day of LAST season (which was April 28th).

I love skiing – and I love being fit enough to ski Whiteface Mountain top to bottom all day, resting on the lift going up and loving every minute of the ride going down.

Yesterday, I could do that twice… and from Little Whiteface not the actual summit…

The rest of the day I LOVED but had to stop at least 3 times to allow my calf & quad muscles a break because their screaming got so loud the joy factor decreased significantly.

Leadership is like that – there is a skill you need, that will take time – energy – effort – brainpower to hone and you’ve not done it.

At this time of year it may be something around those year end review conversations you’re going to have to have in January.

Or something you know will make you better – yet you never find the time to do anything about it. You’re doing a good job after all. It’s just one more thing.

Today, answer the question what are YOU putting off?

Then schedule yourself 15 minutes each day from now until December 31st to do one little thing at a time to get ready… if I’d done that 6-weeks ago, my legs wouldn’t be screaming at me right now (and I’m sitting).
