Have you identified the 1st sign?

2015-09-12 06.25.55I think it is safe to say that inside sales leaders know what success looks like AND they know what failure looks like.

Where the danger comes in, is in the identification of the 1st sign of success AND the 1st sign of failure.

Think about the seasons changing, it doesn’t happen overnight. In the northeast the leaves don’t change in a blink of the eye, it takes weeks of gradually sifting from the greens of summer to the golds, browns, and brilliant reds of fall.

For me the beginning is seeing that first perfectly red leaf on our back lawn.

Yet once I see that leaf I realize the forest had already begun to change without me noticing.

FAILURE: For your team when do you notice that performance has declined? Is it in a lack of activity or all about results?

SUCCESS: Inside sales success is of course measured in results. What results show success? Are you looking for perfection? As you think about activity, what are the leading indicators they are building toward success?

Once you figure out your red leaf, look back further – what would be the 1st sign the leaves aren’t quite as green as they were last week?

Make sure you know exactly what the 1st sign looks like. Then you can intervene at the 1st sign of failure AND encourage at the 1st sign of success!
