Give them your focus & attention

“The thing people want most from you is your focus and attention” Coca Cola’s Wendy Clark

That is the quote that stood out in my mind from an article I saw by Jacky Carter back in the fall

It is impactful enough I’ve been thinking about it since October… SIX MONTHS and I can’t get that quote out of my mind.

When one of your inside salespeople comes to you for help, making sure you are focused on them is important. Think about how badly a picture looks if you have the lens set for a landscape and you are taking a portrait.

Of course you were working on something else when they walked in, take a breath and refocus your mind before you allow them to begin.

ATTENTION
Give them your attention. Paying attention is difficult work, let go of your judgements and truly listen to what they have to say.

Pause and acknowledge you’ve heard them – then move onto your piece.

MULTITASKING
is the opposite of focus & attention. You can’t give something you don’t possess.

Plus the University of London found multitasking lowers IQ and Stanford University found that multitasking is less productive than doing a single thing at a time.

Which means that giving your inside salespeople your focus & attention will make you smarter and more productive!

Perhaps a stretch there but you get the idea!
