Extrovert = an idea becomes real when the words come out of your mouth
Today we’re using another simplified definition. You lead and manage an inside sales team that, most likely, has a few introverts and many extroverts.
PLUS, statistically you’re probably an extrovert yourself.
That doesn’t mean you don’t need to take how extroverts think and behave into consideration when leading and managing them! Here are my top tips:
- Urgency: A Balance Between Right and Right Now – many time extroverts will land in the right NOW camp.
- Make sure they’re asking questions about timing and priority in client conversations (see #1).
- Extroverts will need to think out loud, make sure there is time for that (and try NOT to make the introverts on your team always sit through it)
- Ask questions to draw out the information you need them to think about to direct the conversation.
- Make sure to have THEM say what action they’re going to take, making it more real for them.
When you are leading a team, your mindset is the beginning of setting the tone and direction for how the team interacts.
The key will be to instill a belief that no one team member is as good as the team is together. Even with all the skill and talent in the world, a single person can’t win all alone. Make sure you’re getting everyone’s BEST ideas and work.
