Audacious & Achievable – Goal Setting

Audacious & Achievable Goal Setting

It’s time to do something Audacious & Achievable!

I know that might sound crazy, hear me out. When we don’t have an audacious AND achievable goal in front of us… we may become complacent.

592,000,000 results (0.44 seconds) is what I got when googling “why is setting achievable goals important.” There were 1,550,000 results (0.39 seconds) for “why is setting audacious goals important.”

Audacious comes first!

Merriam-Webster’s first definition of audacious = intrepidly daring ADVENTUROUS. It’s the part of your goal that gets you excited to begin. Plus keeps you going when things get difficult.

Without the excitement – you either don’t care enough to begin…. or to continue though to goal setting.

This part isn’t something you can *poof* do in a moment (at least in my experience) it takes looking for inspiration, reading, listening – to figure out. Now when audacious COMES to you, definitely feels like a revelation… exciting… you want to get started immediately (even if you don’t know how).

Achievable is AS important.

Now that you’re E X C I T E D, please remember to find a way to make it achievable.

When you’re setting goals, making sure that you are able to get to the end result is as important as making it audacious and exciting.

To make sure your goal setting includes achievability: Set Waypoints! Figure out where you are right now – what is the first thing you can do toward the audacious goal. That becomes the first achievable point to reach… repeat until audaciousness is achieved.

You don’t have to know ALL the steps, to get started. If your goal is audacious, you may not know everything that needs to be done to achieve it yet – so make sure you’re aiming for the next thing you know has to be done and working toward it – while figuring out the step after that.

Repeat until it’s time to celebrate your achievement of that audacious goal you set!
