chunk it down to make change stick

Sometimes when I’m thinking about what to post about sales leadership, I come up empty.

Other times I have so many ideas, they don’t make sense until I chunk them out into multiple posts.

Inside sales management (seems to me) is the same way. A million things to address to make the team better is impossible if you try to do them simultaneously.

Instead chunk them out into individual ideas that people can take action on today!

Today’s Exercise:
1. write down everything you want to change

2. group those ideas into logical “themes” or “concepts”

3. pick one

4. create tactical, actionable ways to achieve THAT ONE theme

Tomorrow:
5. explain it, role play it, work on it as a team

6. implement

Later
7. regroup and find out what worked (become best practices) along with what didn’t (change the tactic not the underlying theme)

8. implement the updates

Again
9. talk about it one more time

ONLY THEN
10. move on to your next logical “themes” or “concepts” and begin again at #4

Some may only take a day or two… other themes will take weeks or months.

Regardless if you don’t chunk it down – nothing will change – you will just be shouting random ideas into a megaphone without anyone doing anything.
