#InsideSales Perfection – Mystique or Mistake?

Although you could argue that there are many places and times where perfection is important.

sales isn’t one of them!

That is why in last week’s post giving my short answer to “What would wreck someone’s success?”

My #1 answer was; getting caught up in perfection.

I think there is a mental mystique about perfection that we can get caught up in…
> writing the perfect email that will be responded to
> having the perfect question to ask, at the perfect time to close a deal
> getting the perfect introduction
> crafting the perfect opening statement

Although all are actions; writing, having, getting, crafting – many times the perfection MISTAKE STOPS inside salespeople from contacting prospects.

Why?

The perfection mystique is like smoke, you can’t grasp perfection. Yet if you keep trying to you’ll be stuck… re-writing, searching, re-crafting; instead of doing.

The key is to know when something is good enough to use.

Most things in sales aren’t permanent, if it isn’t quite right the first time – modify as you go along.

Look for something in your world you’ve been waiting to use until it was perfect. STOP WAITING and try it today.
