I finished training a group of salespeople a few weeks ago. One of them asked me an interesting question.
“What is the most important thing for me to know about this career?”
I thought about it for the rest of the day – saying I didn’t answer right away, instead I wanted to think about what is the MOST important among all the important things.
Then I realized that it is so simple, I’d almost missed it.
Make sure you decide you really WANT to be an inside salesperson.
In my experience, it isn’t possible to be successful as an inside salesperson, unless you really WANT to be an inside salesperson.
If in fact you take a job in inside sales, but don’t have a desire to make it a career (or a step in your career) it will difficult for you to be passionate enough about your profession to ever be successful.
