Every time I teach groups of salespeople I learn new things!
Last week one of my students said he asks “In the past when you’ve had tight budget on a project what have you done?” I wrote it down because I thought it is a FANTASTIC question and one I’ve never asked. Nope NEVER asked anything remotely like that – in 19 years.
This week go into each interaction to learn, not as the expert OR the boss OR the leader. Ask an open ended question and see what the answers are.
Use your sales skills; listen without judgement, ask follow-on questions to understand more, and learn.
You’ll probably learn more than you expect.
