When I saw the Disciplined Activity section of the book, I’ll admit I wasn’t sure what exactly I would get out of it.
Why? Well I think most inside salespeople are disciplined to some level and anyone who works out of a home office HAS to discipline themselves.
Then I saw this note from Dan “It’s not what you are willing to do that makes you successful. It’s what you are willing to do without until you get there.”
Proof again that there is still something to learn even… perhaps ESPECIALLY… if you are already skillful at something.
From an inside sales leadership perspective; what are you willing to do without to help your team achieve success?
Here are a few technically free “do without” items that come to my mind:
* instant gratification
* letting your emotions dictate your actions
* winging it
By doing without you can focus your time, energy, and efforts on helping your salespeople move forward in their careers. That momentum will propel your team forward much further AND faster than if you were looking for instant gratification….
Today, look at discipline not only as what you WILL do, but what you will do without!
